Patient Approach

Being Rock - Patient Approach

I am passionate about inspiring volunteers to be alongside patients.

Patient Approach experiential training equips hospice and hospital volunteers with the communication skills and confidence to interact with patients facing serious illness or end of life. The training is unique because it has been created by a volunteer for volunteers. In 2017, Patient Approach volunteer training received the Princess Royal Training Awards recognition by City and Guilds Group as best practice in the workplace.

I have delivered training to volunteers and professional staff from Macmillan Caring Locally, Christchurch Angels, Age Concern, Lewis Manning Hospice, Macmillan, The Norfolk Hospice, Oakhaven Hospice, Forest Holme Hospice, Countess Mountbatten Hospice, St Luke’s Hospice, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Bournemouth Hospital and The Harmony Trust.

“I have no hesitation in recommending Mandy Preece and Patient Approach to any hospital, hospice or home that is considering setting up a similar scheme.”
Alexis Mack - The Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Trust

“Mandy’s teaching is clear and concise with many examples of true life situations, often humorous, always patient and compassionate, she is full of encouragement.
Fiona MacKeith - Volunteer, Macmillan Caring Locally
